PRE-REQUISITES (ACADEMIC & COURSE)

Any student enrolling in the Silica Awareness training course must hold the CPCCWHS2001 Construction Industry Induction Card. You must also supply:

1. Working pen and highlighters for use on the course.
2. An active and working email account – is required in order to complete your online (personal study component)
3. Photo ID to confirm your identity is required on your training day. 

BEFORE YOU ENROL

Before enrolling in this course, you may request to see an enrolment officer in person or via a live video meeting. Although not essential, such a meeting will allow one of our team members to walk you through this course, highlighting any expectations we will have from you and providing you with the transparency of your commitment to this course.

QUALIFICATION ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

This qualification does not specify any mandatory entry requirements within the training package. However, prospective students are encouraged to evaluate their suitability based on the following criteria:

Language, Literacy, and Numeracy Skills: It’s advisable for students to possess Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) skills at Level 2 or above according to the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). This level indicates a basic proficiency in understanding and using English language, literacy, and numeracy.

Before your enrolment is confirmed, you may need to undergo an LLN assessment. If you have concerns about your English language skills, whether in writing, reading, or speaking, we urge you to discuss these with us before enrolling. We’re here to assist and guide you.

Support for ALL Learning Levels: Students with LLN skills below Level 2 are still welcome to enrol. We believe in inclusive education and are committed to helping every student succeed. For such students, a personalised learning plan will be created before starting the course to ensure they can complete it successfully.

It is recommended that participants are at least 15 year’s of age.

This course and employment in the construction industry involves moderate physical activity, including kneeling and bending. Intelligent Training Solutions does not accept any responsibility for any harm suffered by you as a result of your participation in the course. If you have any special needs (including those in relation to Language, Literacy or Numeracy), a relevant disability or condition, or any other concerns, you should raise these prior to enrolment.

Our Silica Awareness Training Course has two delivery options. The enrolment fee associated with each option is found below:

OPTION 1: Workplace-Supported Blended Delivery (Recommended Option)

In this format, the theoretical components are delivered live via webinar or face-to-face, allowing participants to ask questions and engage in group discussions. To streamline the practical component, we recognise that participants are qualified tradespeople actively working in the construction industry. Our team collaborates with participants’ site supervisors, managers, or Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) teams to gather supporting evidence of their competencies with crystalline silica materials, eliminating the need for additional time away from work.

• Cost: Approx. $380 per person
• Online delivery time: Approximately 4.5 hours
• Practical Assessment: Workplace Supported Evidence (example: photos, videos, third-party report)

OPTION 2: Face-to-Face Training (in-class training & practical assessments)

This method involves delivering the entire course, including the evidence-gathering requirements for the practical activities, in a classroom setting, using common tools and materials containing silica (e.g., brick, concrete). The group size is limited to a maximum of 8 participants due to the evidence collection requirements for the practical activities.

• Duration: 8 hours
• Cost: Approx. $650 per person*

You will receive a confirmation text message (SMS) from our office informing you that we have received your enrolment form. This text message may take between 1 to 12 hours to arrive as this message is only sent once our team have your enrolment form in their hands.

You will receive two emails from our administration team. These emails may include:

1. An automated welcome letter that contains information about your course, including your trainer’s contact details, the location where your training will take place, the time your training will commence and any other important information that is relevant to your course.
2. A tax invoice and/or receipt (sent by our enrolment team); and finally

NOTE: TAX invoices / receipts are sent manually and only during working hours.

STEP

You receive a final text message (SMS) from our administration team once your enrolment has been processed. This text message will also confirm that we have sent you all the required emails for your course.

IMPORTANT NOTE: IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE THE EMAILS MENTIONED IN YOUR FINAL TEXT MESSAGE, YOU MUST CONTACT OUR OFFICE.

Student support is a cornerstone of our organisation. Whether you are a full-time, part-time or blended delivery student, you will always have access to your course trainers or student support officers. How you engage in our services (daily, once a week or in blocks) is up to you.

This course is based on competency-based training (CBT) principles. A successful outcome for this course will be determined by a range of different assessment methods, including:

• Assessment of student workbook (Questions or Quiz) 
• Structured questioning and discussion.
• Workplace Supported Evidence

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for this course is offered through an Assessment Only pathway.

RPL applicants must complete the theory and practical assessment tasks to be deemed competent in this course. Standard enrolment fees apply. Further information is available by contacting our office.

• You have the right to complain about the performance of our administration services, trainers or assessors.
• You have the right to appeal the assessment decision made by our trainers. Please refer to our appeals policy in this website’s student administration section.

Intelligent Training Solutions will provide you with all the required resources and texts. Upon receiving your welcome email, after you enrol in this course, you will be provided with access to our learning materials and guides.

Once you have completed and passed this course, you will be issued a Certificate of Completion within 30 days. Your Certificate of Completion will contain the following Nationally Recognised Unit of Competency:

• CPCSIL3001 Work with products and materials containing crystalline silica

PLEASE NOTE: Intelligent Training Solutions aims to issue certificates within 3 to 14 days from the successful completion of your course; HOWEVER, failing to provide our office with your correct USI details, failing to complete any required paperwork, or a failure to pay your invoices on time will delay this process. If you require your certificate urgently, please inform the administration office so that they can attempt to make the required arrangements for you.

Results and/or certificates will only be issued to a student once all enrolment fees have been paid in full, except for those students on a PayRight payment plan (interest-free student loan).

To summarise our cancellation and refund terms and conditions, in short:

• We WILL NOT refund monies to students who do not turn up for class.
• NO REFUNDS will be issued within eight days of the course commencement date.

Intelligent Training Solutions secures trainers, training venues, course resources and printed materials for your attendance on the course during the 8 days leading up to the course commencement date. Your enrolment has been considered during this preparation stage; therefore, course fees WILL NOT be refunded.

Any student who enrols in a course with less than eight days from the course commencement date will not receive a refund. Therefore, please decide carefully when enrolling in a course.

The face-to-face training sessions are fun, interactive, hands-on sessions that use a variety of delivery methods to share information with students. Information is presented to you in a conversational delivery approach, with lots of real-world scenarios, videos, modern presentations and, most importantly, a direct focus on practical, easy-to-implement approaches and techniques.
